R&D/COMPLIANCE SUPERVISOR

The R&D/Compliance Supervisor will be responsible for maintaining compliance to product certifications and labelling regulations and overseeing the development of new products and reformulation of current products for all sales channels from iteration through finished product launch and production.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Oversee development and enhancement of products for new and existing customers
  • Create prototype samples for customer and internal review
  • Manage all formulations, recipes, and labels
  • Create/set up raw materials and product batches in ERP system (Sage/O2)
  • Assist sales/marketing in customer presentations, marketing claim validation, employee education, etc.
  • Conduct analysis and approval of incoming raw materials and suppliers to support purchasing for alternate vendor/ingredient approvals. Manage all vendor raw material qualification documents
  • Develop food nutrition/supplement labels using ESHA Genesis R&D software; Oversee label review and approval to ensure compliance with regulations (FDA/USDA/Kosher/Organic/Gluten-Free, etc.)
  • Manage compliance to product certification programs including but not limited to Kosher, Organic, Gluten-Free, USDA, etc. This includes conducting/participating in facility audits with customers and regulatory certification bodies.
  • Assist the quality department in food safety and quality initiatives as needed
  • Communicate openly and work closely with all departments in the company
  • Perform other duties as assigned

Minimum Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience
  • 3 years R&D experience in food, beverage, and/or dietary supplement industry
  • Understanding of current food/beverage/nutritional supplements regulations and industry food safety and quality policies (experience with SQF/NSF a plus)
  • HACCP/SQF/PCQI training, preferred
  • Experience with OU Kosher, GFCO, CCOF, USDA regulations, preferred
  • Able to work independently with minimal supervision
  • Able to work in a fast-paced environment and able to multi-task and prioritize
  • Strong analytical skills, meticulous attention to detail
  • Strong communication skills: verbal, written and listening
  • Receptive to new ideas and adapts to new situations

Physical Requirements

  • Will remain in a stationary sitting position over 75% of the time
  • Constantly operates a computer and other office machines such as calculator, copy machine, computer and printer
  • Occasionally must be able to lift up to 50 lbs
