Channel Product Manager

The Channel Product Manager has primary responsibility for managing the product lifecycle from strategic planning to tactical activities, including creating sustainable competitive advantage in category, developing relevant and profitable product opportunities in the marketplace, generating product and pricing requirements and specifications, and ensuring timeliness of product launch plans.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

Research and Analysis

  • Specify market requirements for current and future products by category and channel
  • Identify key competitor and consumer trends
  • Identify opportunities/solutions for product and packaging innovation or enhancement

 

 Planning and Management                                                                            

  • Define the product road map and strategy
  • Determine product and packaging specifications
  • Monitor inventory and work with Production on out of stock items
  • Prepare product documents and spec sheets
  • Assist the promotions team by highlighting specific items or updating promotions based on inventory
  • Manage new products from innovation to launch using a state gate process
  • Develop costing metrics and pricing strategies
  • Monitor and rationalize existing product assortment (SKU Rat) including disposition of items
  • Ensure product launch plans are implemented on time and on budget

 

Sales & Marketing

  • Provide short-term and long-term product sales/demand forecasts for new products
  • Manage the master product database including product pricing
  • Update product information on website
  • Answer product questions from customer service and social media
  • Manage the label switch over on various websites
  • Provide product content, including basic descriptions and key attributes to marketing
  • Drive new and revised label creation process, collaborating with R&D and Operations, as well as ensure all labeling content and requirements (FDA, etc.) are met
  • Provide sales sheets, including pricing, palette and shipping configurations, etc.

 

Minimum Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in business or related field
  • 3-5 years product and project management experience
  • Quantitative and business analysis skills
  • Basic knowledge of marketing and research principles and practices
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office and relevant project management applications
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
  • Analytical skills and strategic thinker
  • Excellent organization and planning skills
  • Strong attention to detail
